This study unpacks what the Bible says about our emotions! Can we trust our feelings? Can we control them? And if so, how do we balance what we feel and what God calls us to do? The Bible has answers for this. It even speaks to some specific emotions!
The Theology of Emotions
In this first lesson, we get a foundation of what the Bible has to say about who we are, what we believe, and how that affects our emotions.
What The Bible Says About Anger
In this second lesson, we evaluate what the Bible has to say about anger. There is an anger that is righteous. But we often allow ourselves to be sinful in our anger. How do we analyze our anger and endeavor to have a biblical view and display of righteous anger?
Dealing with Fear and Anxiety
In lesson 3 of this class, we look at the emotion of fear and anxiety. There is a healthy response that we would categorize as fear, both in relation to things that are a potential threat and in relation to reverence to God! But when we allow fear to deter us from our God-given responsibilities, trap us into viewing man’s opinion as more important than God’s, or cause us to live anxious about things that may or may not even happen, then our fear has become distorted and sinful!
Experiencing Joy
In this final lesson, we evaluate joy and happiness. We can experience joy as an emotion if we choose joy as an action! This requires walking in the Spirit and changing our perspective.
We hope that this study has helped you to understand your emotions in light of who God is, who you are, and how the gospel shapes us!
